:: Thursday, November 13, 2008 :: ahhh. a three day weekend. think i'm gonna catch the new bond, quantum of solace. and then maybe come back home and catch a little sukiyaki django. one mo' week and i'm out for a week. planning on lots of movie catch-up. been a while since i posted more than a few sentences. still in the midst of dealing with a washer disaster. long story short - i went upstairs for coffee, came back down and the first thought that went thru my mind was - "WOW, the floor looks really shiny!". after a few seconds, the fact that carpets don't usually shine set in and the realization that my floor was covered in water hit me. something in the washer that controls the flow of cold water apparently malfunctioned and kept pouring water out the overflow. dumped about 15 gallons on my basement, according to baker's carpet cleaning/chem-dry, who did an excellent job on the water extraction. so now with crashed washer (this is the second incident with the washer. last time didn't involve water), we've got to replace both washer and dryer. dryer has had a few issues of its own. and that's easier said than done. lotta money to be pushing out in an economy like this. on the other hand, doing 5 days worth of laundry sets you back about twenty bucks every time. kinda pricey. thankfully, after the last water incident i got into the habit of keeping shit off the floor. it paid off. so it wasn't a total disaster. and did i mention the carpet is that real thin office style stuff with no padding? drys fast and i'm not expecting any issues with mildew. kept one of those industrial blowers on it for 3 days. so that pretty much brings you up to speed. at least over the last week. other than that, it's just work, work, work. and catching up on my dvr. and playing a little guitar hero: world tour. and speaking of guitar hero... i think i need a little gametime.
