Well, well, well! Looks like I was wrong! Though the station is now only available to paying subscribers of Live365, it IS still on the air! Niiiiiice. :) Color me happy. And apparently some of you out there are QUITE the faithful listeners! And for that I thank you! And as long as Live365 will have me and Stardust, it will remain on the air. And hopefully someday I'll be in the position to pay the fees to broadcast the signal free to everyone thru Live365. Until then, Enjoy!

Bad news to report today. Seems that Live365 isn't happy getting a few bucks out of me a month for the enjoyment of running this station and they want a few more. At this point, it looks like they're wanting around 20 bucks a month and to be honest, as much as I love it, I can't afford to keep poppin' a sawbuck a month at this point. So as it stands now, Stardust Memories will probably go silent sometime around Monday July 14th. My apologies to fans of the station - I don't mind the time it takes at all but cash is a different matter. Thanks for listening and I hope you enjoyed the tunes.... I know I did. It's been a blast and I'll always have the pleasure of knowing that Stardust Memories was officially the FIRST Internet Only Classic Standards radio station.

Oh how NICE. I just realized (Thanks to a faithful listener - Kudos to Gabriel Y.!) that Live365 has now started to CHARGE to be able to hear Stardust Memories. I am NOT happy with their decision. But I blame Congress and the Library Of Congress. And the ever so greedy RIAA. But I'll drop that there. If you'd like to know more, PLEASE CLICK HERE! Meanwhile, I've paid the required fees so the station has now gone back to a PUBLIC station, no "preferred membership" required. Enjoy. :) - the oldman
P.S. I'm planning on rotating a few titles in and rotating a few titles out soon - if you have suggestions or requests, send email to theoldman@spage.com

Well, it seems as if Live365 had a little mishap and wiped out all of the music and playlist files. Thankfully, they notified me quickly and I put everything back online and running within 24 hours. And as a side benefit, the rebuild spurred me on to a little restructuring of the playlist and the addition of another 35 songs, many of which have been email requests from listeners over the past 12 months. I'm not the best person about returning emails BUT I read everything that comes across my screen! So if there's a tune you'd like to hear, drop me a line (theoldman@spage.com) and I'll see what I can do about finding it for the station. Thanks for listening and have a good one!

Just an FYI - The Live365 servers were down Saturday April 7th for server maintenance and as a result, many [WinAmp/Media Player/Insert Your Favorite Player Here] bookmarks are now incorrect. Below are the updated links or you can edit your bookmarks yourself in WinAmp and other programs - Just change the IP address for Stardust Memories from 216.32.166.75:18020 to the new IP 64.152.82.196:23646.
We are sorry for any inconvenience this causes but it is beyond our control.

Play it again, Sam - Live365 has done it again. They've changed IP information for most stations so any bookmarks you may have had are probably now invalid. The cd icon hyperlinks below have been adjusted to reflect the correct ip settings.
Again, as before, sorry for any inconvenience this causes but it is beyond my control.

A little explanation. I love this music. I mean LOVE this music. I've worked in broadcasting for the past 15 years and so far, this is the only genre of music that I never-endingly keep coming back to for my personal listening pleasure. Maybe it's the fact that I was raised around this style of music but I think it has more to do with the fact that these songs are timeless. Whereas I can listen to the average new pop song about 20 times in 5 days before I start getting burned out on it, I never get bored listening to the smooth soprano tones of Clyde Lensley McPhatter or the velvety fog of Mel Torme scatting Too Close For Comfort or Frank Sinatra softly crooning In The Wee Small Hours Of The Morning. So, welcome to Stardust Memories, timeless classics.
Here's the deal. If you click the cd on the left, a small window/playlist/player will pop up and begin playing the station. It is an embedded player and you shouldn't have to worry about anything like installs. On the other hand, I don't think the quality is as good as playing the station through WinAmp or RealPlayer, preferably WinAmp. Which brings me to the Negative Image CD on the right. Click on it and the browser will attempt to load the station into a current system player. The format is .pls which is a WinAmp and RealPlayer recognized format. My advice is to choose WinAmp as your default player. If you don't have it, click here. If your system says that there is no program associated with this file, it will give you a "open with" prompt box and let you pick what program to open it with. Choose WinAmp. Also, the music is all sampled for 56K bandwidth. Which basically means to get the signal and keep it you need to have a good strong 56.6 connect or be on a DSL, Cable Modem, T1, Etcetera. Sorry, but when I sampled the music down further, the signal loss was just too much for me to bear.
